A NEW YOU

By - Uncategorized

A “new you” can mean several things. In the dictionary, it means to “transform” means making a thorough or dramatic change in the form, appearance, or character of. That definition demands a solid commitment from the beginning. You know that you are going into something and committing yourself to a “dramatic” change or “thorough and total” change. Does that scare you? I know it can be very intimidating for most people that are making a New Year’s resolution to get in shape or get healthy.

As a result, most of us only pick one area to focus on and then getting intimidated cave in after 2-3 months. How about let’s look at some new, fun ways to produce transformation for our bodies. Let’s talk about some ways to incorporate everything we need and make sure that you can accomplish your goals. The goal is to make resolutions a thing that CAN be attainable.

The statistics show that the top American resolutions are weight loss (21%), Exercise (14%) and healthier eating at (7%). How is the average American going to defy the statistic that states that only 8% actually achieve their NYR? Let me show you.

Most of us know that transforming into a “new you” must start in the mind. Knowing this, we need to formulate a plan in our mind and move it onto paper or write it into a personal journal. Our plan must include the top three key factors of being healthy: weight loss, fitness and heathy eating.

From experience, the weight loss actually comes from creating a deficit of calories. Example, if you eat 1500 calories a day and burn 2,000 calories, you’ve created a 500 calorie deficit in that day. At the same time, we have to make sure that we also maintain a healthy diet, or at least be making healthy choices that involve fruit, vegetables, protein and water consumption.  This creates a fat loss and over a week will bring the results, in a healthy way, that we are looking for. We also want to make sure that we balance our diet with physical fitness. They go hand in hand. You not only burn calories while lifting weights and doing cardio, you also stimulate your metabolism and build muscle that burns fat, even while you are sitting on the couch!

The biggest trick is this, if we focus on “being healthy” through exercise and diet control, it will result in weight loss. However, if you focus only on weight loss, it can cause you to give up on your goals or just become a random dieter. Sometimes, healthy eating can make you feel good and they you want to incorporate exercise, which in turn leads to weight loss. Or sometimes, exercising can make you want to eat healthy or make better choices and then you began to see transformation. Either way, we are accomplishing all three things without all the pressure or forcing ourselves. We need to discipline ourselves in one area (be it food or exercise) and then slowly we will see results in the other two areas as we desire to add them in naturally. A “healthy” lifestyle is the goal. It is the resolution that will be long lasting and be the most fulfilling. If you change a habit, you’ve changed your life.
